Gerry was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1963. His grandparents emigrated from Italy, passing through Ellis Island from the late 1800’s into the very early 1900’s.
His parents each grew up in Coney Island when, as his mother used to say it was “Really Coney Island.”
Gerry grew up in the Sheepshead Bay Section of Brooklyn and it was here that he developed a lifelong love of the ocean. He spent many days in his youth around the fishing fleet which calls Sheepshead Bay its home. He spent his high school years attending Nazareth Regional HS in Brooklyn, and in his off time working at Stella Maris Bait and Tackle Shop located on the Bay.
Gerry attended Pace University in NYC and was even named Mr. Pace – but that was before he discovered his deep affection for all things chocolate!
After graduation he worked in various positions on Wall Street and in the telecom industry.
In 1988 he met the girl of his dreams, Kathi Duffy and by 1990 they were married – and remain so happily to this day. Kathi and Gerry have two children Chelsea and Michael as well as an assortment of pets too numerous to mention.
Gerry is a life long baseball fan. He grew up a Mets fan and still has affection for his old team, but has become a full fledged Orioles fan in his adopted home city of Baltimore.
Gerry’s interests include acting, directing and of course writing.
“If you are lucky, at some point in your life you get to find out your real purpose. If you’re like most people you may find you have multiple purposes. In my case for many years my purpose was solely to be a good son, father and husband. As time has moved on, I have found my calling which is to tell stories which are either uplifting or thought provoking to the world. To let people know that morals matter, and they can also be entertaining. It is my sincerest hope that all who read my books (I say books as I will be writing more over time) will be uplifted and inspired.”
